Reverse osmosis water filter systems may not be your best choice!

Before reading the below information regarding reverse osmosis water filter systems, you may want to read the information on this site regarding: Why Reverse Osmosis water filter Systems are unhealthy

Now I realize that if you own a reverse osmosis system, your likely taking this personal at this point, but please remember......this is what I do, I dig for information that will help my customers make a better decision, and after you read the report, you will understand exactly what I mean!!

Lets begin by explaining my definition of Healthy Purified Water in comparison to just "Filter Water" or "Purified Water"

Reverse Osmosis water filter systems have been around for a long time, I’m talking thirty or forty years, and I have to admit, it has been a very effective water treatment system, that is up until a couple of years ago.

That’s when new drinking water appliances began using Ultra-Violet technology, and better carbon block filters, and computerized components that will monitor your water conditions, and will tell you when it needs attention.

There are several things that I see with reverse osmosis water filter systems that make them second best these days in this industry.

To begin with, they waste water. That’s correct, they waste water! Water trickles down the drain even when the storage tank if full! I don’t know about you but where I live, city water is not cheap and I refuse to let mine just go down the drain :(

Speaking of a storage tank, that brings me to my next problem. This tank is on average 1.5 gallons and has a bladder inside, and guess what?? When your tank is empty, your out of luck! But don’t worry; it will fill in about five to six hours :(

Have you ever seen the space that they consume under your sink? You might as well commit half of your under-sink cabinet to the monster. By the time you get the tank and the filters in there, it’s a messy situation, so some folks install them in the basement, (if you have a basement)

Most reverse osmosis water filter systems will not monitor your water, and you know how “out of site, out of mind” goes? You guessed it…Most folks don’t replace their membrane often enough and that is a serious situation, because a membrane can release contaminants in your drinking water if it is not replaced or serviced when it should be. (You might as well be drinking bottled water or tap water)!

And to top all of this off, reverse osmosis water filter systems will only remove around forty to fifty contaminates. (Unlike ultra violet water filter systems that will remove over 140!) And here is the kicker…they “strip” the water of all of the minerals in your water that are good for you as well.

That is why the water tastes flat. It does not have the minerals in it to give it any taste.

Knowing what you know about reverse osmosis systems, why would you want one?

The only answer should be that you have a component in your water, that you need to remove, and our Ultra Violet Water Filter System will not remove it.

A good example of this would be Arsenic (See below), but if you are still interested in purchasing one, I would recommend the Merlin RO System manufactured by G.E., because it has a very high flow rate compared to most other systems, it is "on demand" which means it will not need a storage tank, and it has much higher capacity.

Here is an example of a reverse osmosis water filter system in the basement on the wall. Looks kind of complicated for the average person trying to figure out which filter to change...

You can learn more about how a reverse osmosis works at Reverse Osmosis Basics

arsenic:

A very poisonous metallic element that has three allotropic forms; arsenic and arsenic compounds are used as herbicides and insecticides and various alloys; found in arsenopyrite and orpiment and realgar

A white powdered poisonous trioxide of arsenic; used in manufacturing glass and as a pesticide and weed killer [syn: arsenic trioxide, arsenous anhydride, arsenous oxide]

If you have arsenic in your water, have it tested frequently and i'm sorry to say that you likely will need a reverse osmosis system to remove it from your water.
